Ron Finley: A guerilla gardener in South Central LA

Bring your lunch and curiosity to talk about ideas, stories, and concepts with fellow Mechanics' Institute members and staff. The group will view a TED Talk together and an informal discussion will follow the viewing. This month, we'll watch and discuss a talk by urban gardener Ron Finley, who plants vegetable gardens in abandoned lots, traffic medians, and along curbs. Why? For fun, for defiance, for beauty and to offer some alternative to fast food in a community where "the drive-thrus are killing more people than the drive-bys."
