The Mechanics' Institute welcomes Joaquin Alvarado, CEO of the Center for Investigative Reporting (CIR); Khalil Bendib, a political cartoonist whose work has appeared in the New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, and other media; Phil Bronstein, CIR Executive Chair and Former Executive Editor of the San Francisco Chronicle; Pauline Carmona, Consul General of France in San Francisco; Robert J. Rosenthal, an award-winning journalist, executive director of CIR, former managing editor of the San Francisco Chronicle and foreign correspondent in Africa and Middle East for a salon discussion as we try to make sense of the attacks in and near Paris and what they mean for free expression and what they may tell us about France, the United States, and the general human condition.
