Ewelina Krubnik learned how to play the game from her father, but it was at the Mechanics' Institute's Saturday class for kids that she really developed her chess skills. Currently rated among the top 100 women in the country by the US Chess Federation rating list, she counts a draw with former World Champion Boris Spassky when he gave a simultaneous exhibition at the MI in 2006. Ewelina has taught the Mechanics' Sunday Women’s Chess Class and looks forward to teaching the intricacies of the game to students in this Wednesday night class.
