The Mechanics' has bounced back from a rough patch in the middle of the season to clinch a playoff spot with back to back wins its last two matches. The team's final seeding in the playoffs is completely open with places 1 to 4 all possible as the M.I. faces Dallas, Seattle meets Chicago and Arizona and Miami battle it out on November 4th.Round 9 – October 26

Congratulations to MI member Tanuj Vasudeva who recently received the Fide Master title. Tanuj, born June 18th 2001, is one of the youngest titleholders in the world.

Josh Friedel finished among the prize winners at Hoogoveen (Netherlands) scoring 6 from 9. Fellow MI GM Jesse Kraai had 5. Both will be playing in a strong tournament in Bad Weisse , Germany, that starts in a few days. 3) US Squad for World Team named
US Chess Live (www.uschess.org) recently ran the following announcement. Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis founder Rex Sinquefield will sponsor the US team to go to the World Team Championship, set for Bursa, Turkey from January 3-13. According to Tony Rich, the executive director of the CCSCSL, The World Team Championship squad will consist of GMs Hikaru Nakamura, Alexander Onischuk, Yury Shulman, Varuzhan Akobian and Robert Hess. Rich said, "Each of the players has agreed to come to Saint Louis for various events thanks to Rex's generosity." Stay tuned for more info on this exciting event
