Voice applied to a story—that’s a memoir. Nail not just the story but the voice of your memoir in this full-day workshop of hands-on exercises.
Adair will help you shed your inhibitions in order to craft a compelling memoir…and give you tips on getting it published!
We’ll cover:
- Creating an interesting personality on the page.
- What to minimize, what to heighten, what goes in and what doesn’t.
- How to detach from the story even though it happened to you.
- We want more narration, less scene. I’ll tell you why.
- Using prompts to find your voice.
- The art of asking yourself questions: What didn’t you notice? Who were you with and what comfy set of beliefs were you operating under?
- Publishing your memoir: No one will believe that a great voice comes from the author of a dull query letter
There will be a break for lunch but it will not be provided. Please consider bringing a sack lunch.
