“Some movies keep you guessing,” wrote Robert Ebert of The Crying Game. “Some movies make you care. Once in a long while a movie comes along that does both things at the same time.” Beginning as the story of an unlikely bond between a British soldier and the IRA volunteer holding him hostage, this Oscar-winning film’s plot has so many fascinating twists and turns that any further description would qualify as “spoilers.” Suffice it to say that Ebert closed his review with the simple and sensible admonition “See this film. Then shut up about it.”
