1. Dates & Location
- Friday, November 26, 2021 at 9:30AM
- Location: Mechanics' Institute - Chess Room 4th Floor
57 Post Street, San Francisco, CA 94104 (click here to map)
2. Tournament format:
- Tournament format: swiss
- Total Round: 4 rounds
- 3 Sections: based on November 2021 USCF Supplemental regular rating.
- 700+,
- 400-699
- Under 400 & Unrated players
- TDs reserve the right to adjust the sections based on the players signed up to better serve them.
- Round times: 9:30AM (We need to start a bit earlier to finish in time!) and Round 2, 3 and 4 on a rolling schedule
Expected end time: around 1:00-1:30PM - Time control: G/30;d5 (Game in 30 minutes with 5 second delay with each move. -- Please note that we are back to delay!)
- Games will be US Chess regular & quick rated (so called dual rated) - tournament will be submitted immediately after last round finished.
- Tiebreak: standard scholastic tiebreak methods following current published US Chess Scholastic Regulations will be used to differentiate between players with same final results.
3. Byes
- Max of byes: 2 Last round to request a bye: 2
- Number of rounds in tourney: 4
- Bye note: All bye requests after round 2 will be 0 point
4. Awards -- trophies or medals based on final results.
Trophies to top players in each sections.
Medals to all others.
5. Registration -- Special Thanksgiving Tournament pricing!
- MI library member: $20
- Non-MI library member: $25
- $5 admin fee for all cancellations & refunds.
6. Eligibility
- Players must have current US Chess Federation membership. Expiration date of their US Chess membership must be later than the last day of the tournament.

7. Tournament rules
- Standard US Chess rules apply.
- Forfeit time is 30 minutes.
8. FAQ
- What are the time controls mean?
Time controls are telling you how much time you have for each game.
G30;d5: Game in 30 minutes with 5 second delay with each move. This means you get 30 minutes, your opponent gets 30 minutes and at each move the clock counts down from 5 to 0 before the player's time starts. If player doesn't use up the whole 5 seconds, that time is lost. - How many games/rounds?
This tournament is a round robin tournament. This means that every player in each quad will be playing against all other players in the quad. Total of 3 games. - Players Database
