With tremendous gratitude to Pam Troy, Events Assistant and CinemaLit Coordinator — for the 1,600 events, programs, and CinemaLit films planned, developed and presented here at Mechanics' Institute, and for all she has shared over these twenty years.
Pam has been the backbone of the Events Department. Her dedication to Mechanics' Institute, vast knowledge of film and filmography, and passion for reading and literature have supported our programs greatly. Pam's good humor and joie de vivre have brought together our volunteers and members, encouraged new friendships and camaraderie, and made everyone feel welcomed — an essential part of our very special Mechanics' Institute culture.
Much Thanks and Cheers to Pam!
A Poem for Pam’s Retirement
By Laura Sheppard, Director of Events
She’s got a myriad of stories to entertain and to share
And some tales of woe and dread—that might give you a scare!
She’s got a million anecdotes—unusual and unique,
Pam’s a walking museum—an information geek!
On database she’s OH so quick—typing 90 words a minute lickety-split,
She remembers every book and film…and is the doyen—the Queen of CinemaLit!
Pam whips our events into shape with her technical expertise,
The set-ups, strike downs, last minute changes with penultimate speed and ease.
Then there’s coordination, web design, EventBrite, popcorn and the flyers,
She’s on the go from start to finish—it’s a wonder—does she ever tire?
Pam’s got a heart of gold—especially with members and volunteers,
We’ll miss her and I am sure after these twenty years—we’ll shed a few tears,
So, it’s time to close this chapter—and open a blank page anew—
With travels with Michael—and maybe writing a novel or two!
So BON VOYAGE and BUON AVENTURA—to Italy you go—
We’ll see you at MI soon—perusing the stacks—I know!
