Improved Library by Mail - Outreach Services
For many years Mechanics’ Institute has offered a Homebound Outreach program to members who are no longer able to visit the Library in person due to illness or disability. We’ve recently expanded the offerings and have updated the program name to better reflect the improved service. We are happy to introduce Library by Mail - Outreach Services and welcome new registrants to join the program.
Library by Mail allows us to mail books, DVDs, music CDs, magazines, and audiobook CDs directly to members who are facing surgery, long term illness, are suffering a disability, or are caring for someone with an illness or disability that makes it difficult to come into the library.
To enroll in the Library by Mail - Outreach Service, complete the simple form and pay a one-time $25.00 registration fee. Materials are mailed free of charge to members through a special service offered by the U.S. Postal Service. You must supply a short letter signed by your doctor, health care provider, or nurse certifying the condition that allows you to receive library materials by mail.
There is a limit of four items per request and library materials are mailed to you for a six-week checkout period. You may choose to borrow books, DVDs, music CDs, magazines or audiobook CDs.
To register for this program, please complete the registration form or contact Cherilyn at 415-393-0101. We will have you on your way to home-delivered library materials in no time.
