James McBride's first book since winning the National Book Award for The Good Lord Bird has finally arrived! Set in 1969, Deacon King Kong, McBride's dark comedy about an aging, boozy old church deacon has been heralded as a 'love letter to New York City' and the Sister Production Company has snapped up the TV rights to the book. But McBride is no stranger to adaptation -- his Miracle at St. Anna was a 2008 film directed by Spike Lee and The Good Lord Bird, his electrifying work about John Brown before the Harper's Ferry Raid is now airing as a miniseries by the same name on Showtime.

Speaking of adaptations, our historical fiction list features Hilary Mantel's The Mirror and the Light, the final installment of the Wolf Hall trilogy. You may have seen the stunning Wolf Hall Masterpiece series about Thomas Cromwell based on Mantel's first two books, Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies. The BBC has confirmed that this third novel will provide the basis for Wolf Hall series 2.

If you've been pining for Sara Paretsky's legendary private eye, V.I. “Vic” Warshawski, look no further, he is back for the 20th time in Dead Land, a noirish political thriller. Our TBR (To Be Read) list runneth over as much anticipated new titles by John Grisham, Emma Straub, Sue Monk Kidd and more have arrived!
