Annual Fund and Marketing Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:  Under the direction of the Sr. Director of Advancement, the Annual Fund and Marketing Manager is responsible for growing a membership and donor base for individual giving, renewing and upgrading member and donor support, and strengthening relationships with entry and mid-level donors. Accountable for meeting annual donation goals, the Annual Fund and Marketing Manager develops and implements strategies for direct mail, online fundraising, member and donor communications and cultivation efforts. The manager will also develop and implement communication strategies including social media, management of website, and print and online communication.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Fundraising and Donor Engagement

  • Support all aspects of the annual giving program including direct mail and email solicitations, and digital campaigns.
  • Write and edit fundraising content including website pages, direct mail pieces, and other materials.
  • Coordinate solicitation messaging, campaigns and promotions, including those integrated with our subscriber and attendee lists.
  • Oversee the Individual Membership and Annual Fund programs meeting goals through mail, electronic and phone communications, member events, and on-site solicitations.
  • Develop and track metrics and success criteria and report on these regularly.
  • Organize and implement compelling print and electronic marketing campaigns to attract new and renew and solicit gifts for the Annual Fund and Membership campaigns.


Membership

  • Develop and update new member and renewing member communications and events, such as new member orientation.
  • Work close with departments to make sure membership is integrated seamlessly into MI activities and initiatives. 
  • Develop online and email strategy to keep members informed and engaged.
  • Monitor membership growth, renewals and retention adjusting strategies to meet goals.


Donor/Member Stewardship and Communications

  • Work with the Senior Director of Advancement to upgrade MI’s annual fund program for gifts $1 to $999.
  • Work with team to ensure members and donors are acknowledged and thanked. 
  • Work with team to oversee correct entry of all data on membership and Annual Fund gifts and reconcile donor/member data.


Marketing and Communications

  • Oversee development and production of the annual report
  • Manage the new website which is launching on July 1
  • Manage social media team
  • Responsible for producing weekly e-newsletter.
  • Manage implementation of annual membership survey
  • Outreach to businesses and individuals to promote opportunities for membership or fundraising.


Operations

  • Reconcile gift entry for department working with Finance Director.
  • Ensure team is providing timely gift processing, acknowledgements, etc.
  • Ensure online websites promoting MI, such as Guidestar, are up-to-date.
  • Ensure promotional materials are available to visitors and attendees.
  • All other responsibilities as assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Candidates will have a minimum of 3 years of fund development and membership experience preferably within the cultural arts sector with an understanding of fundraising principles.
  • Experience with multi-channel annual giving and membership acquisition and renewal programs, including direct mail and digital campaigns.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; CRM tools; and experience with Blackbaud’s E-Tap or similar system.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messaging.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends to support member and donor engagement activities.

 

This is a full-time exempt position (37.5 hours per week) position working regular Monday- Friday hours with occasional additional hours. Flexibility to adjust schedule for events during evenings and weekend to help promote membership and giving. This is also a hybrid work opportunity, one day per week.

 

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • This is a full-time exempt position. Salary range is $80,000 - $85,000.
