Bloomsday Breakfast & Greeting

Bring your toast and jam, bagels or biscuits and a hot “cuppa” to our virtual morning gathering to welcome in Bloomsday with greetings, special guests and music. We will be joined by musicians and singers Anne Goess, Esther Mulligan, John Ilyin plus Melanie O’Reilly and David Creevy from Ireland and others!

Watch our 2020 Mechanics’ Institute Bloomsday Noon film/video produced by Laura Sheppard and directed by Bruce Bierman on our MI YouTube Channel. This lush, multimedia montage of 16 readings and performances from James Joyce’s epic novel Ulysses features interpretations both traditional, contemporary and experimental! Watch at your leisure anytime!

The wonderful cast of actors, singers and musicians come from the Bay Area, New York and Ireland. Performers include Anne Bingham Goess on fiddle with local talents Bruce Bierman (director), actors Josiah Polhemus, Esther Mulligan and Dan Harder, singer John Ilyin, Professor Catherine Flynn, UC Berkeley, composer/vocalist Amy X. Neuburg with video graphics by Andrew Juris, actors Caraid O’Brien and Aaron Beall (NYC), Melanie O’Reilly and musicians (Wexford, Ireland).
